Kim Briggs

For almost a decade, I have had the opportunity to work as a paralegal providing general legal services, drafting and formatting motions, briefs, complaints, summons, including having them issued and served, preparation of clients for their depositions, witness interviews, trial preparation, trial presentation on Courtroom electronic systems, electronic filing in all Courts, investigation and numerous other duties.

The cases I have worked on include insurance defense, construction defect, personal injury, real estate law, criminal law and family law, just to name a few.  I enjoy working under pressure and helping problem solve on the difficult cases.

In addition to paralegal work, since 1989, I have owned and operated a cow/calf operation, giving me knowledge in water rights, easements, property boundaries, trespass, deeds, etc.

I evidently wasn't busy enough on the ranch, so in 2002, I attended Weber State in the Radiologic Technologist program.  Enjoying learning and the medical field, I continued on and enrolled at Montana State in the nursing program.  The knowledge of patient medical records, medical terms, treatments, working with physicians and other medical providers has been beneficial in my career as a paralegal.

I continued to work in the medical field for approximately eight years before being "hijacked" by an attorney whom I had assisted with reviewing medical records.  He asked me to try working as his paralegal.  Although, I was warned by many in the legal field that it is was a stressful, tough job, I took on the challenge, caught on fast, loved it and never left.

We all know knowledge is power!  Therefore, I obtained my real estate license in 2014.  What I learned in my real estate courses and continue to learn has been beneficial in numerous civil litigation cases I have worked on (i.e. real estate sales, purchases, contracts, deeds).

My well rounded knowledge of the medical field, real estate, farming, ranching and the law, has allowed me the opportunity to work  in many different economic and social circles, support the attorneys I work for, and, most importantly, giving me the ability to relate to the clients and their needs.
